Alleyway Series (2013)
-colored pencil on black foam board
Through the Crevasses is a series of twelve colored pencil drawings on black foam board depicting neglected alleyways in downtown Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL. “’The light at the end of the tunnel’ never really made sense to me. I believe a darkened unattractive, repugnant, and grotesque environment should take the place of this ‘tunnel.’ Alleyways always catch my eye, but too many people they do not even exist. They are the dark, eerie, and gruesome paths that keep our buildings, and lives, stable. As humans we have hope to cling to, even in the darkest and hardest of times there is still the slightest bit of light peering through the crevices.” This series holds a national Scholastics Silver Key with Distinction Award, as well as, an American Visions Award.
