Really, in 2018? (2018)
- WARPhuas, Gainesville, FL // April, 6th
"My work is a combination of found objects that resonate with my personal upbringing within a hetero-normative family. Toxic and fragile masculinity runs deep within my family’s dynamic but has left me and my siblings questioning their standards. My siblings and I now challenge these notions but looking back on our childhood, filled with social troupes, we realize the toxic behaviors ingrained in society. These ideas and experiences, within our patriarchal society, reinforce horrible power systems that should be ultimately erased. The objects are socially “male” in appearance but are weathered and broken to capture this fragility."
